invite members in good standing of either organization
to submit up to three monotypes or monoprints
for a juried exhibition at
The Rhode Island Watercolor Society Gallery
Pawtucket, Rhode Island


VENUE: Founded in 1896, The Rhode Island Watercolor Society (RIWS) is one of the oldest watercolor organizations in America. Their gallery, located in the JC Potter Casino Building, an historic lakeside boathouse in Slater Memorial Park, features an art gallery, library and studio space. They host frequent shows each year including a National Water Media Competition. 

JUROR: Adrian Tió received his fine arts training from Temple University (B.A. 1974), the University of Cincinnati (M.F.A. 1979), and studied at the Tyler School of Art in Rome, Italy (1975-76). Residing in Mattapoisett, MA, Tió is a Professor of Fine Arts in the College of Visual and Performing Arts at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and has exhibited nationally as well as regionally in drawing, painting and printmaking for over 40 years. ELIGIBILITY:
Both MGNE and RIWS members may apply. Membership in either organization must be up-to-date to participate. All prints must be either monotypes or monoprints. For detailed descriptions of those terms, please follow this link to our website: http://mgne.org/monotypedefined/  Submitted work cannot have been shown at an earlier MGNE or RIWS exhibit. MGNE is open to artists working in the medium of one-of-a-kind prints. REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants can submit up to 3 entries, with an entry fee of $12 per piece. Art must be two dimensional and no larger than 38” on the longest framed side. Large size work (over 30") must be put under plexiglass. Work should be framed and ready to hang with a wire. Clip-on frames, saw-tooth and keyhole hangers will not be accepted. If you have an atypical display, please contact the exhibitions committee before submitting. Shipped work must be received at the gallery by September 23. Hand delivered work must be received at the gallery by September 30. The Gallery Director reserves the right to refuse installation of any work that is not appropriate for a professional exhibition at RIWS, or does not meet the stated guidelines. 

ENTRY PROCESS:
We will begin accepting entries on June 1, 2021 and will close submissions at midnight on July 30, 2021. ArtCall allows changes to your submissions until the deadline. Images must be JPEGs and should be sized between a minimum of 960 to a maximum of 1920 pixels on the longest side. You will receive further delivery and shipping details upon acceptance by the juror. The juror’s decisions will be sent out on August 30.

INSURANCE:
MGNE and RIWS gallery staff will handle your work with the care and respect that they accord their own work. RIWS does not have insurance. You must agree to a release during the ArtCall entry process.

SALES:
RIWS will encourage sales and will take a commission of 35% on sold work. You may enter zero in ArtCall if your work is not for sale. Payment for sales will be sent at the end of the exhibit. 

HAND DELIVERY:
Please label all artwork with your name, title of the piece, contact information and price. You must include an inventory form that you print out from ArtCall. Hand delivery will take place from September 9 – 30 during gallery hours:
• Thursdays-Fridays, 8:30am-4pm
• Saturdays, 10am-3pm
• TWO Wednesdays, 22 and 28, 8:30am-4pm

SHIPPED WORK:
Shipping details will be sent to you via email upon acceptance of your work by the juror. Shipped work will be returned shortly after the exhibit is taken down, provided that you have followed the instructions for return.
